This only makes sense when you find out that Ben wrote the songs when he was ten years old. 'The Album Songs Wrote When I Was Ten' features song titles like, 'The Monster Song' and Crocodile Don't Eat My Socks. The only news that we have on Ben since being ten and now being twenty-six is that he appeared on Top of the Pops, played at Reading Festival and has sold a lot of records in Thailand. www.benandthepimps.co.uk THE SUBWAYS From Welwyn Garden City, The Subways are a three-piece punk-blues band consisting of two brothers and a beautiful female. They started by playing blues covers in their front room and have grown into a band with a powerful stage performance. Young & talented with a hard hitting sound. Billy Vocals/Guitar, Joshua Drums and Charlotte Bass/Vocals. OPTIMIST CLUB Described as frenetic and intense, Optimist club is a new London Panic-Rock quartet with a bite. Influenced by music of Ex-Models, Shellac and Aphex Twin they project raucous and feel good energy with their innovative sound. Adam Betts (drums, 22), Adam Beach (Bass, 22), Jeion Nejad (guitar, 20), Bryn Ballard (vocals, 22) formed the band in January 2003, they’ve spent a year in rehearsal studios and now they’re ready to record their first LP in late March. TWENTYFIRST CENTURY FUCKS Adhering from the Welsh punk-rock scene, 21st Century Fucks, New Quay’s own, will play their debut gig in London, east of the border. Energetic & passionate, they are a band with heaving layers of riffs with melodic vocals and that trashy west-rock punk sound. Raw and strait to the point. Adam (guitar and vocals), Moffat (drums), Ben (bass). THE SCALA SESSIONS at Scala, Kings Cross, is an exciting live band night; aimed at showcasing up and coming bands with the help of LAE’s (Live Audio Engineering) hottest sound engineers. Showcasing the bands that have been doing the gig circuit, winning the hearts of fans and have record company interest; this is the chance for those bands to work it on the big stage. In short, this is the next platform for determined bands to have a fantastic opportunity to play one of London’s most prestigious venues. Demos for consideration must be delivered in person at the demo desk on the night of the 29th March addressed to Jenny Jangles @ Scala Sessions. If you are unable to come down and support the bands and deliver your demos on the night we can accept them by post Scala Sessions, 275 Pentonville Road, Kings Cross, London, N1 9NL. Priority will be given to those demos delivered on the night.
