After touring with Radiohead and the Super Furry Animals last summer, completing a string of remixes for the likes of Badly Drawn Boy, Doves, Aphex Twin and production duties on the forthcoming Beth Orton album, Four Tet is very much ready to play his first headline live London show for over a year. Four Tet takes to the stage to play a live set of brand new material from the highly anticipated third album 'Rounds' (out May 5th on Domino Records). ‘Rounds’ is that most rare and wonderful thing, a fresh, innovative and even daring record that will have an immediate and indelible effect on the mainstream and the way we perceive popular music. Moving, lovely, labyrinthine, invigorating, stimulating and exciting, ‘Rounds’ is a record which sets the benchmark for the year’s releases and surely delivers Four Tet to a limitless audience of people with ears to hear and hearts to feel. Recalling Jim O’Rourke, Radiohead, Christian Fennesz Four Tet’s unique and melodic mix of folksy hooks, pastoral soundscapes and electro pop mixed with warm thudding beats has garnered a wealth of glowing press and widespread praise. The London duo Icarus make sounds and rhythms from things like air coming out of a balloon, household objects and their own special electronic devices in the vein of Matmos. They often stage their own shows and have been known to drive into a venues with a mini and broadcast their set via transistor radios to the audience! Excitement and unknown happenings may occur... Super
Furry Animals main man Gruff Rhys takes to the decks to play a mix of classic rock and roll, electro, raw beats and pure pop gems and possibly tracks from the forthcoming album 'Phantom Power'. One third of the critically acclaimed instrumental post-rock band Fridge, Adem and his Assembly 3 project (a 25 piece improv orchestra) improvise music based on words/images/shapes written on whiteboards using a mixture of conventional instruments and found objects. For instance the word 'shhhh' might be written, or a jagged line drawn. The input will be written/drawn by anyone who wants to - myself, you, the audience/passers by. They will make music inspired by these inputs.
